Emojis are not supported in PaperSurvey. The PDF rendering engine does not include emoji fonts, so emoji characters will not appear correctly when printed.
Built-in face icons
For smiley-face rating scales, PaperSurvey has built-in face icons that print correctly. Type [smile], [neutral], or [sad] into any question text or option label, or insert them from the formatting toolbar with More formatting › Symbols. On the printed paper survey they render as drawn face icons, and on the web survey they appear as the matching emoji.
You can also use a graded five-step scale, from [smile=1] (most negative) through [smile=5] (most positive), which is useful for labeling the points of a rating scale. These print as drawn faces on paper and appear as 😞 🙁 😐 🙂 😄 on the web survey.
Other symbols
For any other emoji or icon, save it as an image file and upload it into your survey using the image feature. This gives you full control over how it appears in print and works reliably across all printers.
