Filters let you narrow the data displayed on your analysis dashboard to specific subsets of responses. This is useful for comparing groups, focusing on a time period, or isolating particular segments.

## Applying a filter

1. Open your analysis view
2. Click the **Filter by response...** dropdown in the toolbar
3. Select the question or property you want to filter by
4. Choose the values to include (e.g., only "Satisfied" and "Very Satisfied" responses)

All widgets on the dashboard update immediately to reflect only the filtered responses. There is no separate apply step.

Besides questions, you can filter by Tag, Version, Batch, Collection Method, Identifier, and the team member who uploaded the responses or generated the print batch. For open-ended questions, you can type or pick from the most common answers.

## Multiple filters

You can apply filters on multiple questions at the same time. Once one filter is active, an **and when...** dropdown appears for adding the next. When multiple filters are active, only responses that match all filter criteria are displayed.

For example, you could filter to show only responses from people who selected "Female" on a gender question AND "25-34" on an age question.

## Removing filters

To remove a single filter, clear its question selection in the toolbar. To remove everything at once, click **Clear filters**. Removing all filters restores the full dataset.

## Date-based filtering

Use the date range picker to focus on responses uploaded during a specific time period. Presets such as Today, Last 7 days, and Last Month make common ranges quick to select. Surveys printed with unique page marking can also switch the date filter from the upload date to the date the print batch was generated.

## Filters and exports

Active filters carry through to exports. When you export a dashboard as PDF or PowerPoint, only the filtered data is included. This makes it easy to generate targeted reports for different audiences.

## Common use cases

- **Compare demographics** - Filter by age, gender, or location to see how different groups responded
- **Time-based trends** - Focus on a specific week or month to track changes
- **Separate paper and web responses** - Filter by Collection Method to view each channel on its own
- **Segment by source** - If using prefill data, filter by source identifiers to compare collection points
